Seriously?!

The football Badgers scheduled a Nov. 22 home contest against Cal Poly today. This comes on the heels of talks of a two-year agreement with budding powerhouse Rutgers, which would have done much for both programs. True, the Mustangs are no 1AA slouch, but it's hard to see this as anything but a cash cow, when a true race horse, the Scarlet Knights, where waiting there with all of their shining armor.

Such are the choices in a world where bowl games drive the success of entire athletic departments.

The Bank Is Open

I was cleaning out my inbox and came across Sherby's link to the Butch bank (the window was open late) that ended one of the worst days in Indiana basketball history, and made the Polar Bear a legend for years to come in Madison. I post in here for the mere purpose of posterity.

Can Bucky keep the dream alive come Sunday in Columbus?

That's Our Boy!

Yes, that Russell from NY, one of the charter members of Bucky's annual tour of the BT, was quoted in Seth Davis' "Hoop Thoughts" in SI. He claims that Davis paraphrased him when stating that the Badgers have "minimal talent."

Garbage In, Garbage Out

I'm quoting Rick Telander here, who said it all in this piece about IU's hollow victory over Purdue last evening. This may be the last we see of Sampson, even if Bucky plays the Hooisers for a third time in Indy come March. To this we reply, "Good riddance, and by the way, thanks for knocking off a Boiler team that we simply cannot beat." Now it's time for a tough match against the Illini at Assembly Hall. On Wisconsin!
