A Baker's Dozen

The BT approved a one-week extension to football season, allowing for a bye week in the 12-game schedule and a games the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This means that the classic rivalry games, including Michigan-OSU, will be served with leftover turkey. Conference games won't shift until 2009, but members may move non-conference opponents with permission beginning next season.

Kudos to the league for a positive decision in terms of national exposure, elongated development through practice regardless of whether or not a team is bowl eligible, and crisper play during bowl season with a gap in play comparable to other conferences. This means no more excuses for Michigan and OSU: They must play to their potential as Bucky does year-in, year-out on New Year's Day.
