Bracketology '09
On the day after Wisconsin wrapped up its exhibition schedule with a win over UW-Whitewater, Joe Lunardi (aka Joey Brackets) posted his latest 2009 March Madness Bracket.
Without looking, where would you guess Mr. Lunardi slotted the Badgers? 4 seed? 5 seed? 6 seed?
Guess again -- The Badgers are listed as the...2 seed in the Midwest!
Other Big Ten teams included in the bracket were MSU as a 3 seed, Purdue as a 4 seed and OSU as a 10 seed.
When asked how he could have the Badgers as a 2 seed and Purdue as a 4 seed (Purdue generally being considered the team to beat in the Big Ten), Lundari responded:
"I'll admit the Wisconsin seeding is a bit high. Then again, they've finished first or second all but one time in the last five seasons. So what's more likely? A return to form by the most common champion [Wisconsin] or a repeat performance by a team no one will be surprised by in 2008-09 [Purdue]?"
I can't argue with that logic.
I'm happy to move my attention from football to basketball and I am excited about the prospects of Bo Ryan's team, but I see the Badgers on the 4 to 6 seed line come March.
Finally, I am very bullish on Jordan Taylor's career as a Badger. I am expecting big things from him this year and even bigger things the following 3 years. This kid has poise, is athletic and seems to have a high basketball IQ. J. Taylor will end up having a better career than K. Taylor and T. Hughes.

Let me point out that I made this posting one day before Dave Heller's posts on the jsonline Badger Blog. The two posts are very similar and I don't want there to be confusion about who was first
