Big Ten Wonk

A fellow blog by the Big Ten Wonk provides a detailed preview of the Wisconsin basketball team.

It's a long preview, with a number of stats and quotes and such, but the bottom line is the Wonk says UW must shoot better (as he points out Kammron Taylor and Joe Krabbenhoft were among the worst two-point field-goal shooters in the Big Ten last year).

This guy must be paid for these statistical breakdowns, for his service is time-consuming. His site is definitely worthy of a sidebar link. I do dispute his primary evaluation tool, points per possession. In nearly all instances, the team that passes the ball wins the game, and this is reflected in the assists category. Conversely, the team that takes care of the ball also improves its chances. Together they affect points per possession, but they are a more accurate measure against vastly different competition at this juncture of the season.
